Didn't know how to upload files in vector format, so they're .jpegs...
1. What did you think of the project? Gradient Logo - It was a lot more simpler than I thought. I did have some problems with the lines going past where they were supposed to. I was able to fix a few but I couldn't figure out how to fix the rest of the stray lines. Mario - Hard. Made me never want to look at Mario again. 2. How is your piece successful and what might you change in the future? Gradient Logo - It looks like an octopus, which is really the only point for me. It fulfills its purpose. In the future I would change where the lines go through the inside of the octopus. Mario - It looks like Mario. Messed up in some places and didn't get as smooth lines as I wanted. 1. What was your theme and why did you pick it?
My theme was school/office supplies. I picked it because I thought it would be easy to find objects to include in the pattern by looking around the room. 2. Of the three patterns you've made, which is your favorite and why? My favorite pattern is the second support pattern I made, with the erasers. I think it has a good color palette. 3. What did you find difficult about this project? Choosing colors and aligning the objects the way I wanted. 4. What would you recommend to someone starting this project? Start with big images so they are as non-pixelated as possible. (zoomed out view)
1. What is your inspiration? Not really anything, I just wanted to do office/school supplies because I figured I could just look around the room for inspiration if I needed more objects to draw. 2. What's your plan? My plan is to create two more supporting patterns, one involving pencils and the other involving erasers. 3. What have you done so far? I've done the sketches and finished the showstopper pattern completely. (Sorry about notebook paper but these were the original ideas I had. I used the top left one.)
1. What element is traditional medium and how did you use this element? The girl is the traditional aspect. It's the center of the image. 2. Explain your process and how you came up with the idea. I drew the original idea I had for the card over and over until I came up with what I wanted. I traced a sketch I made in light pencil, then colored it with colored pencils. After putting it into Photoshop, I colored the background, then the snow on the ground, then the pathway. I did the falling snow and the fog afterwards. The trees were last. I blurred all of them so that more focus would be on the girl. I don't really know how I came up with this, I just wanted something to do with a tree and a girl standing in the wind because I thought it would be cool. 3. What made it difficult? Drawing the backdrop without a tablet was pretty hard. I think I was able to obscure most of that by blurring it though. 4. What did you find successful about your piece? I think the winter theme is very obvious in the piece. You can tell it's meant to be a winter card. |
